Kindergarten to Grade 5
English Language Arts (ELA)
Our ELA curriculum focuses on the core strands of reading, writing, speaking, listening, and language mastery:
- Reading: Daily guided reading and read-alouds promote comprehension, fluency, and analytical thinking through the use of both narrative and informational texts.
- Writing: Students engage in purposeful writing—narrative, informational, opinion—with deliberate focus on structure, voice, and mechanics.
- Oral Communication and Language: Through collaborative discussions and presentations, learners build effective communication and vocabulary skills.
- Foundational Skills: Phonics, word recognition, and vocabulary instruction are prioritized, especially in early grades.
Mathematics
Our K–5 Math curriculum provides a strong mathematical foundation, striking a balance between conceptual understanding and procedural fluency. Key elements include:
- Number Sense and Operations: Emphasis on place value, addition, subtraction, and introduction of multiplication and division.
- Algebraic Thinking: Simple equations, patterns, and relationships prepare students for higher-order math.
- Geometry and Measurement: Spatial reasoning, shape attributes, and measurement tools build real-world skills.
- Data and Probability: Students learn to organize data, interpret graphs, and engage in basic probability—planting the seeds for statistical thinking.
Assessment and Progress Monitoring
- Regular benchmarking and progress checks in reading and math.
- Formative assessments are embedded in daily instruction.
- Parent–teacher conferences and data chats ensure open communication and shared goals.
